千石船と船大工の里として栄えた宿根木は、国の「重要伝統的建造物群保存地区」に選定されています。船板などを利用した板壁の民家100棟が密集した古い町並みは、廻船業で栄えた当時の様子をそのままに伝えています。民家３軒が有料で公開されており、特に三角家では「塩」の看板の下で記念撮影するのが人気です。また、港では伝統製法の「はんぎり（たらい舟）」を体験できます。
