音無川（吉野川）を眼下に望む榮山寺は藤原南家の菩提寺として鎌倉時代になるまで栄華を極めていました。法隆寺夢殿とともに奈良時代を代表する国宝「八角堂」や重要文化財「薬師如来坐像」、平安三絶の鐘の一つである国宝「梵鐘」など、貴重な品の数々が残されています。
Eizan-ji Temple, which overlooks the Otonashi River (Yoshino River), flourished until the Kamakura period as the family temple of the Fujiwara Minami family. Along with Horyuji Yumedono, there are many valuable items left, such as the national treasure “Hakkakudo” representing the Nara period, the important cultural property “Seated Statue of Yakushi Nyorai,” and the national treasure “Bonsho,” which is one of the Three Great Bells of Peace.
