Cultural property constituting a World Heritage Site. It was originally a prestigious monk's temple at Kinpusen-ji Temple, and became a shrine due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhism in the Meiji period. There are also historical anecdotes such as Minamoto Yoshitsune hiding with Benkei and others, that it was Emperor Godaigo's palace, and that Toyotomi Hideyoshi was the headquarters for cherry blossom viewing. Shoin is said to be the oldest residential building in Japan, and is designated as an important cultural property. From the precincts, there is a scenic spot called “Ichimoku Senbon,” where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Nakasenbon and Kamisenbon wild cherry blossoms.
