百人一首でも有名な歌人、西行法師が出家したお寺。境内には、西行お手植えの「西行桜」があるほか、桜ともみじが約１００本ずつ植えられていて、別名「花の寺」と呼ばれています。また、重要文化財の薬師如来像や金剛力士像も間近に見ることができます！
This is the temple where Saigyo Hoshi, a famous poet in Hyakunin Isshu, became a monk. In the precincts, in addition to the “Saigyo cherry blossoms” hand-planted by Saigyo, about 100 cherry blossoms and maple trees are planted each, and it is also known as the “Temple of Flowers.” Also, you can see the Yakushi Nyorai Statue and the Kongo Rikishi Statue, which are important cultural properties up close!
