秩父多摩甲斐国立公園内にある美しい渓谷。花崗岩が川の流れで侵食され、断崖や奇岩が独特の景観をつくり出しています。紅葉の名所としても有名で、秋は渓谷沿いの遊歩道を多くの人が歩きます。「覚円峰（かくえんぼう）や「仙娥滝」が人気の見どころ。甲府市街地から約30分とアクセスも便利で、バスや車で通る昇仙峡グリーンラインの車窓から見える景色も絶景です。「全国観光地百選・渓谷の部」第1位、国指定特別名勝であり、環境省選定の平成の名水百選にも選ばれています。
