江戸時代の農民が、関所を通らず往来を許された「百姓渡船」が起源といわれています。対岸の東京都葛飾区柴又との間を、折り返し運行する唯一の渡しです。
It is said to have originated from the “peasant ferry,” where farmers in the Edo period were allowed to come and go without going through checkpoints. This is the only ferry that runs back and forth between Shibamata in the Katsushika district of Tokyo on the opposite bank.
