宇治の茶文化に欠かせないやきもの「朝日焼」は慶長年間に初代奥村治朗右衛門藤作が開窯。二代目藤作が小堀遠州の指導を受け、「遠州七窯」の一つに加えられた歴史を持つ。七名園の一つ「朝日茶園」跡地に窯元のギャラリーと陶芸教室があり、1日陶器づくり体験可。
The pottery “Asahiyaki,” which is essential to Uji's tea culture, was first opened by Okumura Jiroemon Tosaku during the Keicho era. The second generation Fujisaku was instructed by Kobori Enshu and has a history of being added to one of the “Enshu Seven Kilns.” There is a pottery gallery and pottery class on the site of “Asahi Tea Garden,” one of the Seven Great Gardens, and you can experience making pottery for a day.
