出雲市平田町の中心部にある木綿街道。江戸時代から明治にかけて、雲州木綿の市場町として栄えました。当時の賑わいを偲ばせる「酒蔵」や「醤油蔵」などの商家、旧家など風情のある町並みを見ることができます。案内所でもある「木綿街道交流館」は江戸時代の外科医の旧宅を復元したもので、館内には展示、食事処などがあります。街道沿いの店舗では見学や生姜糖や醤油を使ったスイーツも楽しめます。

Cotton Street is located in the center of Hirata-cho, Izumo City. From the Edo period to the Meiji period, it flourished as a market town for cotton in Unshu. You can see the charming townscape, such as merchant houses such as “sake breweries” and “soy sauce warehouses,” and old houses, which are reminiscent of the bustle at that time. The “Cotton Road Exchange Center,” which is also an information center, is a restoration of an Edo period surgeon's old house, and there are exhibits, restaurants, etc. You can also enjoy tours and sweets made with ginger sugar and soy sauce at stores along the road.
