1400年以上の歴史を誇る天台宗の古刹で、十一面観音様をご本尊に厄払いのお寺として慕われています。5万坪余りの広大な境内には、山陰唯一の三重塔をはじめ、国の重要文化財である根本堂など文化財も多く、荘厳な空気に包まれています。春のソメイヨシノ、境内が真紅に染まる秋の紅葉は絶景です。境内の旅館では精進料理も楽しめます。
It is an ancient temple of the Tendai sect boasting a history of over 1,400 years, and is loved as a temple of exorcism with the eleven-faced Kannon as its principal image. The vast grounds of over 50,000 square meters are filled with a majestic atmosphere, including the only three-storied pagoda in the Sanin region, as well as Kondo Hall, which is an important cultural property of the country. Yoshino cherry trees in spring and fall foliage, when the precincts are dyed crimson, are spectacular. You can also enjoy vegetarian cuisine at the ryokan in the precincts.
