昭和30年（1955年）頃に住宅造成のため破壊されそうになりましたが市民運動によって保存された古墳。後円部から出土したかぶと型の埴輪は、堺市の文化財保護のシンボルマークとなっています。
The tomb was almost destroyed for housing construction around Showa 30 (1955), but was preserved by a civic movement. The head-shaped haniwa excavated from the back circle is a symbol mark of Sakai City's cultural property protection.
