日蓮の弟子阿仏房日得が自宅を寺として開いた日蓮宗佐渡三本山のひとつ。広い境内は整備されていて、仁王門から本堂までぐるりと一周できます。新潟県内では唯一の五重塔があり、その高さは24m程度。国の指定文化財に登録されています。また、この周辺には国分寺や大膳神社など寺社仏閣が多くあり、コースを外れた散策もオススメです。
It is one of the three main temples of the Nichiren Sado sect that Nichiren's disciple Abutsubō Hittoku opened his home as a temple. The large grounds are well-maintained, and you can go all the way from the Niomon Gate to the main hall. There is the only five-story pagoda in Niigata Prefecture, and its height is about 24 meters. It is registered as a nationally designated cultural property. Also, there are many temples and shrines in the area, such as Kokubunji Temple and Daizen-jinja Shrine, so we recommend taking a walk off course.
