佐渡の玄関口のひとつである両津湾と対をなす西側の大きな湾。砂浜が多く、遠浅の地形となっています。沢根港の付近ではカキの養殖が行われていて、水面にたくさん浮かぶイカダはカキをぶらさげて成長させるためのカキ棚です。コースのスタート地点にある佐和田海水浴場は海水浴やマリンスポーツの拠点。夏はたくさんの観光客でにぎわいます。
A large bay on the west side opposite Ryotsu Bay, which is one of the gateways to Sado. There are many sandy beaches, and the terrain is shallow. Oysters are farmed near Sawane Port, and the large number of squid floating on the surface of the water is an oyster shelf for growing by hanging oysters. Sawada Beach, which is the starting point of the course, is a base for swimming and marine sports. It is crowded with many tourists in summer.
