国際標準軌1,435mmよりも狭い線路幅の、762mmのナローゲージ。昔は国内各地で運行されていましたが昭和40年代までにそのほとんどが廃止されています。今では国内に三岐鉄道北勢線、あすなろう鉄道内部・八王子線、黒部峡谷鉄道の3路線しか現存していません。そのうちのひとつ、三岐鉄道北勢線は、明治45年より北勢鉄道株式会社としてその歴史をあゆみはじめ、平成26年で開業100年を迎えました。北勢線の終着駅、阿下喜(あげき)駅に隣接する軽便鉄道博物館には、実物の電車とパネルなど貴重な資料を展示しています。
また、ご家族でお楽しみいただけるミニ電車ホクさんに乗車することもできます。
A 762 mm narrow gauge with a line width narrower than the international standard gauge of 1,435 mm. In the past, they were operated all over the country, but most of them were abolished by the Showa 40s. Currently, there are only 3 lines in Japan: the Sangi Railway Hokusei Line, the Asunaro Railway Internal Hachioji Line, and the Kurobe Gorge Railway. One of them, the Sangi Railway Hokusei Line, began its history as Hokusei Railway Co., Ltd. in Meiji 45, and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2014. The Light Railway Museum, which is adjacent to Ageki (Ageki) Station, the terminal station of the Hokusei Line, displays valuable materials such as actual trains and panels.
