前川と球磨川の間にあった麦島城が1619 年の地震で崩壊したため、1622 年新たに現在の場所に築城された城。石垣には八代産の石灰岩が使用され、現在は八代宮が鎮座する。八代有数の桜の花見スポットでもあり、約200 本のソメイヨシノがある。
Since Mugishima Castle, which was located between the Maekawa River and the Kuma River, collapsed due to an earthquake in 1619, the castle was newly built at its current location in 1622. Limestone from Yashiro was used for Ishigaki, and now Yatsushiro Palace is located. It is also one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots in Yatsushiro, and there are about 200 Yoshino cherry trees.
