斎王が伊勢神宮へ赴き神事に奉仕するのは、6月と12月の月次祭と9月の神嘗祭の3回に限られていました。
その中でも神嘗祭へ奉仕する際に、斎王が禊を行った場所の跡地が「斎王尾野湊御禊場跡」です。
尾野湊とは大淀海岸の古名です。

Among them, the site where Saio performed his prayer while serving the Kanname-sai Festival is the “Saio Ono Minato Gosho Ruins.”
Ono Minato is an ancient name for the Oyodo coast.
