大同元年（806）空海（弘法大師）の開基。寺号は恵解山青龍寺で、観音堂を始め九十九坊が建てられていたといわれます。大干ばつ大飢饉の年に住職千観（せんかん）上人の祈とうで雨が降り、龍神に勝ったという意味から「勝龍寺」と改名されました。
It was founded in the first year of Daido (806) Kukai (Kobo Daishi). The name of the temple is Ekezan Shoryuji Temple, and it is said that 99 buildings were built, starting with Kannon Hall. It was renamed “Shoryuji” in the sense that it rained due to the prayers of the chief priest Sengan (Sengan) Shonin in the year of the Great Drought and Great Famine, and it was defeated by the dragon god.
