10世紀半ばに空也上人により建立されたと伝わる岩王寺。日本三筆の1人・嵯峨天皇が愛用した硯が、この寺の奥より産出した岩王寺石で作られたことで有名です。
Ganno-ji Temple is said to have been built by Kuya Shonin in the middle of the 10th century. The inkstone used by Emperor Saga, one of Japan's three brushes, is famous for being made of Ganouji stone produced from the back of this temple.
