空海作とされる磨崖仏や四国八十八ヶ所霊場になぞらえた88体の石仏が残る洞窟です。海の侵食によってできた洞窟ですが、隆起によって現在は標高約70mに位置しています。毎月17日には地域の方が集まり念仏を唱える「おこもり神事」が執り行われるなど、地元の方々に大切に守られています。
It is a cave where 88 stone Buddha remains, compared to the Magaibutsu, which is believed to have been made by Kukai, and the Shikoku 88 Sacred Sites. It is a cave formed by sea erosion, but it is currently located at an altitude of about 70 meters due to uplift. On the 17th of every month, local people gather and perform the “Okomori Shinto Rite,” where they chant nembutsu, and it is carefully protected by the local people.
