唐津湾沿いに、虹の弧のように連なる松原。唐津藩初代藩主、寺沢志摩守広高が、防風・防潮林として植林したのが始まりで、全長約4.5km、幅約500mにわたって続く松は、約100万本と言われています。今では、三保の松原、気比の松原とともに日本三大松原の一つに数えられ、国の特別 名勝に指定されています。
Matsubara stretches like an arc of a rainbow along Karatsu Bay. It began when Terasawa Shima Morihiro, the first lord of the Karatsu Domain, planted trees as windproof and tidproof forests, and it is said that there are about 1 million pine trees that continue for a total length of about 4.5 km and a width of about 500 meters. Today, along with Miho no Matsubara and Kehi no Matsubara, it is counted as one of Japan's top three pine groves, and has been designated as a special place of national scenic beauty.
