平宝寺元年（757年）に法道仙人により開基され、鎌倉時代に源頼朝の命により復興した古刹です。広大な境内の緑の中に朱塗りの山門がひときわ美しい。
It is an ancient temple founded by Hodo Sennin in the first year of Heiho-ji Temple (757) and restored by order of Minamoto no Yoritomo during the Kamakura period. The vermilion-painted temple gate is particularly beautiful in the vast green grounds.
